Karen Ramirez

Summer Intern

My name is Karen Ramirez, and I am a rising junior at Stanford University double majoring in Political Science and Comparative studies in Race and Ethnicity.  After undergrad, I hope to go to law school with the intention of either becoming an immigration or criminal defense attorney. At the Stanford campus, I am involved with the Latinx Pre-law Society,  hold the presidency of Latinos Unidos, volunteer as a Spanish tutor for immigrant students at a local high school, serve on the executive board of Hermanas, and am an advising fellow for Matriculate (college access program for high schoolers). My internship at CLI is driven by my deep-seated passion for social justice, particularly in advocating for my community’s rights and well-being. I have lived in Compton all my life and look forward to learning more about my community. A fun fact about me is that I danced Folklorico, a type of traditional Mexican dance,  for 12 years!
