Hector joined CLI in 2019 as a Compton resident where he and his wife were able to purchase their first home – a dream neither of them believed would be achievable in their lifetime.
He is the son of Salvadoran immigrants and first of his family to graduate from college. After a decade directing employment and training programs throughout Southern California, Hector changed careers to become a community-labor organizer to impact how public investments in infrastructure and transit result in economic and racial justice for working families.
Hector’s been part of and led multiple policy campaigns and strategic organizing initiatives at public agencies and multinational corporations. He’s a founding member of the East Area Progressive Democrats and the Compton Tenants Union.
