Carolina Hernandez Lopez completed her Master’s in Social Work, at CSULB. She began her journey with CLI in January 2023 as the Program Coordinator until February 2024. She now serves on the CLI board, where she is committed to helping the organization achieve its mission and because she believes that everyone should have access to quality legal services regardless of their income or location.
Originally from Jalisco, Mexico, and raised in South Los Angeles, Carolina’s passion for social justice was ignited by witnessing her community’s lack of access to essential resources like legal services, social services, and healthy food.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations from UCLA. Carolina’s professional background includes significant experience in legal services, having worked with the UCLA School of Law, the Los Angeles Law and Policy Project, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Veterans Legal Services Project. In these roles, she assisted low-income individuals, undocumented immigrants, and Veterans in obtaining critical legal support.
Currently, Carolina is involved in research and community engagement efforts at UCLA and also works with an Indigenous environmental advocacy group dedicated to environmental protection efforts in Long Beach.
During her free time, she enjoys cooking healthy food, going on walks in nature, and spending time with her family.
